If you have a race, ride, BBQ or bunch you want to start up and would like it posted leave a comment I’d be happy to post for all.

Cardrona-Wanaka-Cardrona

Sunday 26th September

This weekend see’s the first of the Wakatipu Cycling Club’s ‘Warm-up’ Series, and the official begining of the Summer racing season. Starting in grades of like ability, the race will start and finish at the historic Cardrona Valley Hotel, while the journey is an easy jaunt down to Wanaka and return (for lunch). In fact this friendly little starter will start at 10 (be there at 9:30am) so you’ll probably be home before lunch!

Come and support this little club – voted best in NZ. It’s cheap ($5 for members, $10 for non-members!!), the racing is challenging but great fun, and the company a laugh. It’s also a great way to get fitter for those ‘Challenging’ kilometers later in the season!

Hard Labour Weekend

Based around Ben Ohau Station and the canals of Lake Pukaki near Twizel is a three event weekend for all. A running race “The Pyramid Run”, Road Cycling Race “Canal Caper” and Mountain Bike “Dusky Trail”. These guys have put on many similar multi-sport races on in the past so their experience should ensure this new combination presents something for all and a good challenge for those asking for it.

All the courses look great infact I’ve been thinking for years that the canals would make a great road race; so cool to see it’s happening click here for online regestration and details, maps and distances of each disaplin http://www.twizelhardlabour.org.nz/

Apple Pie Run

In the mean time if you are in the Wanaka area there is a great social ride starting from the intersection to Albert Town on the main highway out of town. The tempo is an easy winter cruize generally riding for 2-3 hours with some stopping for coffee and ‘pie’. Any new riders are welcome to join in. Bunch leaves every Sunday through Winter @ 9am
